IвЂ™m also glad when they put their own needs first and takes care of themselves, instead of stretching themselves thin. I also recognize that El has needs that I canвЂ™t meet, and IвЂ™m happy when they get their needs met by other people. I feel myself healing a bit more each time we hold hands or cuddle. They make whole a part of me I didnвЂ™t know was missing. I also never realized how touch starved I was until I met El. I want to help make them feel a little more at peace with themselves. They have been through so much, and I just want to help make their life a little easier, a little more filled with kindness and love. When El shares stories and traumas with me, it makes me want to hold them a little closer, a little tighter. ItвЂ™s so adorable, and it makes me happy knowing that they are happy. This is usually when theyвЂ™re eating good food. El also does a shoulder wiggle dance to indicate theyвЂ™re happy. IвЂ™ll catch them looking at me, and I wonder if they think the same as I do when I stare at them. El usually catches me staring and gets self-conscious, but I simply enjoy catching glimpses of them being their authentic self in these little moments of life. Sometimes, IвЂ™ll just look at them fondly. IвЂ™ve baked them sweet potato pies, composed a homemade edible arrangement, made a walnut maple bread pudding, took them to a fine arts festival, and bought us matching shirts. IвЂ™ve done several nice, cute things for El, but I want to do more. When they treat me with kindness and compassion, I almost start believing that IвЂ™m worthy and deserving of good things. They feel like home in ways that I never thought anyone could make me feel. But El? They feel like curling up next to the fireplace after wading through a snowstorm. When we hold hands, I feel whole, on my way to healing. When I hear their text tone, my heart flutters, and I feel excitement. I even gave El a unique ringtone for when they text me. When I see them, my eyes light up, and I canвЂ™t help but smile. El was talking to their friends about me, and one of her friends, who is also asexual, exclaimed, вЂњYouвЂ™re their squish!вЂќ El had never heard the term before either and had to do a little research like I did.Д®l is absolutely amazing to me in every way. I quickly looked up the word on Urban Dictionary, and after reading the descriptions, I was confident in calling El my squish. A deep affection, fondness, and connection with someone, similar to a crush, but without an interest in a sexual component.Д®l asked me randomly if I considered them my squish, and I had never heard of that word in that vague context before, so I said I wasnвЂ™t sure what that mean. From my understanding of the word, it is basically an asexual crush.
